The Opportunity
Rumie Learning, a non-profit reaching over 2 million global learners, needed to expand its library of microlearnings, aka “Bytes,” that deliver quick, relevant, and engaging education, particularly for underserved communities. The challenge was to design content that blended instructional rigor with the easy feel of social media, making learning accessible, practical, and motivating for young adults worldwide.

The Solution
As a Learning Designer with Rumie, I created high-impact microlearnings through collaborative sprint cycles, peer reviews, and rapid prototyping. Each Byte was designed to be under 10 minutes, multimedia-rich, and optimized for accessibility across devices, ensuring learners could engage anytime, anywhere.
The featured financial literacy Byte applied the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) framework to help learners build strategies for long-term financial freedom. I storyboarded the content, authored the Byte in Rumie Build, and worked iteratively with editors to refine for clarity and engagement. By applying social learning design principles, the microlearning balanced bite-sized content with practical, actionable steps that learners could immediately apply.
The Impact
The FIRE Byte earned a Rumie Impact Award, recognized among 130 microlearnings published in Q4 2023 for its engagement potential and learner relevance. Across Rumie’s platform, these Bytes continue to empower learners to “scroll with purpose,” filling knowledge gaps in critical life skills while supporting Rumie’s mission to make high-quality education globally accessible.
